PBR and A.J. Fosik

Street art and street artists are evolving, and I for one am thankful. With the fairly recent explosion of street art into the mainstream, many artists have used graffiti as a springboard into the gallery scene. While this has caused much of the art on the streets to become diluted, some artists have gone to new heights in a gallery setting. A.J. Fosik is one such artist that has risen to the occasion.

For about five years Fosik has been doing these three dimensional wooden works. These pieces marry American craft with menacing worldly imagery of animals, demons and deities that have always appealed to me. However worldly his work is becoming, it is universally relatable and very interesting.

The candy colors, ravenous beasts, and tremendous work involved really do it for me. In a world where graffiti is less about 'fuck you', and more about 'here is my calling card, buy my shit!', it is nice to see artists like A.J., with a street art background, mastering new media. His art is only going to get better.

Special Fact: He also has a fondness for cheesy beer sweaters.

Seriously. It's in his Flickr and he wears them.
You know you want it.

Stay thirsty my friends.
